Sperasoft expert teams help bring in cross-platform phonetop solution on time, on budget for successful launch

Sperasoft, the Silicon Valley outsourcing specialist providing high-value, project-dedicated development teams based in Russia, announced today the important role it played in creating the cross-platform, mobile phonetop solution recently launched by HipLogic, Inc. The entirely new HipLogic platform, branded “HipLogic Live” is portable across any mobile operating system, from smart phones to feature phones and from 18 manufacturers including leaders Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and LG.

The Sperasoft and HipLogic development teams have been working collaboratively since 2007, when HipLogic – then called Numobiq – tapped the outsourcing firm’s expertise with Sun’s J2ME, a Java-based mobile technology now deployed on some two billion handsets.i

HipLogic and Sperasoft undertook to create a “true mobile” experience. – a mobile phonetop (or home screen) that does not recreate the PC desktop but rather meets the specific user needs of the mobile market. HipLogic’s “HipLogic Live” solution provides always-on, fast access and logical presentation of content and applications that are cumbersome to access through current mobile phone browsers. It makes content both discoverable and easy to access, so users can go directly to content they regularly need (including Facebook and Twitter) without sifting through multiple search links typical of current mobile phones. Once a user selects content desired on their phonetop, the HipLogic “smart-pull” technology updates and presents it dynamically, with no need to repeatedly spend time looking for it.

Sperasoft’s stable teams and U.S.-based management were important in the success of this effort, since it made true team-based development expertise available to us on an outsourced basis without losing close, collaborative management of the teams producing the software, said Mark Young, CTO of HipLogic. We knew from Sperasoft’s background in J2ME that they had the technical experience needed to contribute to our project.

HipLogic’s powerful concept of pulling needed content directly to a user’s phonetop as a service was clearly a significant step forward in the practicality of mobile devices, said Alexei Kudriashov, CEO at Sperasoft. It solves many problems that plague users of phonetops based on the PC desktop model. It was destined to be a very exciting prosuct, and has had a tremendous market, and are delighted with our ability to participate in the development effort.

The sophisticated HipLogic mobile technology created in collaboration with Sperasoft includes a custom development platform called mobiJAX® based on industry-standard JavaScript and XML technologies. It is compatible with a range of applications such as web/WAP, web services, J2ME, and native applications, but with an important advantage. Applications written for the mobiJAX® platform are immediately portable across multiple open and closed phone operating systems.
